Beautiful location and hotel but...
- What did you like most?The hotel was located inside the park, and right next to the zoo, which made it very quiet, definitely very beautiful in the spring summer months, and made it unique, one of the reasons why I selected it. The gym room was very well equipped, clean and available. The SPA area was very beautiful, and well equipped, although perhaps missing a few more chaises longues. The staff were very friendly (specially the night shift) and tried to help us the best way possible, but it seemed many issues we encountered were out of their control. Due to low occupancy we were able to get a late checkout without having to pay extra, which was very much appreciated.
- Was there anything you didn't like?It seemed that the hotel has just opened after vacation, or was only partially open. The staff did not seem to know each other or their tasks, there was painters walking around the hotel, walking into the pool area etc. There seemed to have been a reduced staff also, who were not able to help us with some requests which seem relatively easy. The TV software in the room was not working well at all, and the airplay option was faulty, even after technician intervention it did not work. The AC in the room seemed impossible to turn off, and even when set on the maximum temperature it was always rather chilly. The room also seemed to have a ventilation issue, there was a persistant sewage smell present in the room. As a pregnant woman, who eats a pescatarian diet I found the off hours menu choices available at the hotel very limited, and a request for a simple grilled cheese was denied, which seems slightly odd for a 5 star hotel.
